About this Talk
Why is it that peak performance and breakthrough results are accessed by about 5% of people in any field or undertaking? It all comes down to the way peak performers relate to their amygdala and its resistance to stepping outside the "comfort zone".
The amygdala in the human brain has one assignment (aka “primary directive”): to guarantee the survival of the organism. The amygdala must be able to predict what's coming. Going for a breakthrough triggers the defenses in the amygdala because the journey of fulfilling on unprecedented results is by definition a trail-blazing endeavor. Stepping out of one’s “comfort zone” (i.e., deviating from one’s “familiar self image”) represents a new frontier and is thus considered by our amygdala as being unpredictable, and therefore, a threat to the existence of the organism.
The pandemic has created a new reality – one which requires rapid upleveling of our self-perception. We are being invited into a personal breakthrough: to let go of our old patterns of who we know ourselves to be and learn how to invent and embrace new skills, new thinking, and new self-image patterns. Join us in this game-changing dialogue on what it takes to thrive in this new reality.
